Dennis JM Donahue III
Co-Founding Member
Dennis Donahue III is an experienced, highly effective intellectual property attorney, manager, and business advisor, with expertise in all areas of intellectual property law in corporate and private practice. After two decades as both an aerospace engineer and then a leader in large midwest-based law firm, Dennis launched his own practice.
CreatiVenture Law, LLC is the realization of his dream to work side by side with entrepreneurs and those on the cutting edge of technology and business. His clients range from small inventors to multi-million dollar technology, manufacturing, and retail companies.
Dennis’ technical expertise extends across technology in all fields, especially in the mechanical, electro-mechanical, bio-mechanical, computer hardware and software arts. Dennis also provides professional opinions and actions for clients faced with issues of IP infringement and litigation matters. He counsels clients on business strategies which include license agreements for patents, technology, trademarks, copyrights, celebrity endorsements, and retail branding.
Dennis started his career as an engineer for McDonnell Douglas with key roles in Research and Development, the AV-8B Harrier program, followed by Litigation Support on the T-45 Goshawk program, all while attending law school. Dennis went on to serve as the aerospace giant’s Intellectual Property Representative and then became Boeing’s Manager of Licensing Portfolio & Marketing.
After moving into private practice, Dennis formed co-chaired the firm’s intellectual property department and facilitated mergers which more than doubled the size of the firm’s IP practice. In 2009, Dennis successfully launched his own boutique firm to provide personal service & pricing not available within the constraints of large firm practice.
Dennis has also served as an Adjunct Professor at St. Louis University School of Law, teaching “Anatomy of a Patent.” He offers seminars on Intellectual Property law to business leaders from companies of all sizes, as well as local business networking groups.
Kevin C. Staed
Intellectual Property Associate Attorney
Kevin is a patent attorney who also provides services for trademarks, copyrights, licensing, and other IP matters. He counsels clients on the best ways to use IP assets to advance their business and protect against infringers.
Kevin works in a broad range of technology areas, including mechanical devices, automotive tech, building/construction methods, electro-mechanical, computer/software arts, internet technologies, and innovations in manufacturing and business processes.
He started his career as an Operations Engineer at a large St. Louis fruit and produce distributor, before entering law school at St. Louis University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate.
Kevin is active in the St. Louis entrepreneur and startup community. His desire to work with entrepreneurs was spurred by his father, a former packaging engineer with patents himself, who now counsels businesses and startups in packaging technology, design and innovation. Coincidentally, Kevin’s wife is a marketing innovator at a Fortune 500 company, who grew up in a family of entrepreneurs as well.
His two biggest passions outside of his IP work are time with his wife and daughter... and, of course, golf!
